Welcome to the American Women's Club of Oslo

Our clubestablished in 1934, is a social network of American women living in the Oslo area of Norway.  We are a diverse group of women, with a rich club history and our club is both non-profit and non-political. Our energetic community organizes many different events, both social and charitable. Whether you are new to the Oslo area or a long time resident looking to reconnect with your American culture, we invite you to join our vibrant community!

AWC Oslo is a proud member of FAWCO (www.fawco.org), an international network of independent volunteer clubs and associations with a total membership of around 12,000 in nearly 35 countries. FAWCO is active as a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) with special consultative status to the UN Economic and Social Council.

The AWC 2017 Scholarship

This scholarship/stipend is for an amount up to NOK 100,000.00. This scholarship will be granted to a Norwegian citizen for advanced study, research, or professional training in the United States of America in one of the following fields:

  • Women's health
  • Children's health
  • Geriatric care
  • Education for children/youth with special needs
  • Public health

The purpose of this scholarship is to build professional bridges between Norway and the United States and recipients are expected to return to Norway to share and put to use the knowledge they have gained in the United States.

The deadline for the 2017 Scholarship applications will be 1. February 2017.

Our Location

The AWC's meeting space is Hanson Hall at the American Lutheran Church, Fritzners gate 15 (off Bygdøy alle), 0264 Oslo. This location is accessible by bus lines- 30, 31, 121, 131, 143 Bus stop- Frogner Kirke. There is also FREE parking at the church and street parking in the neighborhood.
